ABSTRACT NOUNS

An Abstract Noun is the name of a quality, action or condition, that is something that we cannot see or touch. For example, the thing called "pain" is something that we can only think or feel. The name "pain" is therefore an Abstract Noun.

Abstract Nouns can be formed from Adjectives, Common nouns or from Verbs. Tables below describes how Abstract Nouns can be formed from Adjectives, Common Nouns and also Verbs.


NOTE:

Some Abstract Nouns have the same form as the Verbs.

Examples:

   >> The babies cry everyday. (Verb)

   >> The cry of the babies can be heard from here. (Abstract Noun)
